Sport at MSCW is categorised into two areas - School sport and Representative sport.

      Thursday School Sport

Girls are given the opportunity to participate in Thursday Sport during years 7 to 10.

Each term they are involved in different activities to improve their level of fitness, coordination, self-esteem and confidence as well as their social wellbeing.

These popular activities include Sailing, Funk Dance, Social Dance, Pilates, Soccer Skills, Boot Camp, Survivor Team Challenges, Gymnastics and Fitness First classes. The girls thoroughly enjoy their Thursday afternoons either at the College or at a sporting venue in the local community.

A number of students play for MSCW in Saturday netball, sailing and hockey. Throughout the year, teams travel intra and interstate to represent the College and compete competitions for netball and soccer.

      Representative Sport.

Girls at Marist Sisters have the opportunity to represent the College in numerous sports.

      These include:

      • Sailing
      Water polo Gymnastics
      Aquathon Netball Basketball
      Cross Country Indoor Soccer AFL
      Cricket Swimming Touch Football
      Volleyball Softball Tennis
European Handball Outdoor Soccer Dragon Boat Racing
      Athletics Dance Hockey

      • The two main associations that Marist Sisters compete in For these sports are the Metropolitan Combined Catholic Schools (MCCS) and the Catholic Girls Secondary Schools Sports Association (CGSSSA).

The MCCS competitions are played against seven other schools, which are held on Thursday afternoons over a term, or as one-day carnivals.

The CGSSSA carnivals are one-day events held throughout the year where we compete against 14 other schools. From these carnivals girls can be selected to represent the CGSSSA at the Combined Catholic Carnivals (CCC), and if their performance is outstanding they can then go on to represent the New South Wales and Australian All Schools Teams.

This is an extremely high honour and one that Marist Sisters are proud to see many of our girls achieve in recent years.

One of the highlights of the College Sports Calender is the annual trip to the AMSA Netball Carnival. The Open team travels to a variety of cities across Australia, with the host School changing each year. The girls come together with the Marist Community to celebrate the bond between the schools and play three highly competitive days of netball. It is always an amazing experience for the girls where lifelong memories are made.

The sporting achievements of Marist Sisters, are acknowledged at the Annual Sports Night, which is held at the end of each year with the girls and their parents. This formal occasion is where the girls receive their sporting participation awards as well as Blue and Gold Colours, which signify the Best and Fairest players for each sport. It is a wonderful evening, which brings the MSCW sporting community together to celebrate the success of our girls.
