Casual Teaching at MSCW

Marist Sisters’ College is committed to ensuring that the engagement of relief staff is in the

best interests of the students and that the person employed is appropriately qualified and is

fully informed about relevant school practices.

 

Applying for casual teaching at MSCW

• Teachers must be classified with CEO Sydney and therefore must have completed

relevant police checks.

• Classified teachers should forward the following to the Administration Coordinator

(info@mscw.catholic.edu.au):

o Cover letter introducing themselves, subjects they are trained in, days of availability

o Curriculum Vitae outlining teaching experience

o 3 referees and their contact details

o A scanned copy of their CEO Sydney letter of classification (please note: teachers

and contact information

without current CEO classification cannot be employed at the College. Please refer to

the CEO website for details regarding classification

• Should the casual be considered for employment, the Administration Coordinator

contacts referees for information regarding applicant’s professional experience, as well as

contacting the CEO Sydney to ensure applicant in classified.

 

Factors influencing the offer of work to a casual teacher

Availability

 

Expectations of a casual teacher on day of employment.

o Be punctual.

o Be formally dressed and well presented.

o Support the College ethos and policies.

o Behave professionally and appropriately.

o Sign the casual register to indicate arrival and possession of key/laptop.

o Complete the activities as outlined by the Administration Coordinator in accordance

with their role for the day, including marking the electronic roll for each class.

Offers of casual work

o Offers of casual work are initiated by the Administration Coordinator via email / phone

message.

o Information is entered and maintained using the PHRIS programme in accordance

with CEO Sydney guidelines.

 

At the point of employment

• The Administration Coordinator phones the applicant and offers a single casual day

of work. Should the offer be accepted, the Administration Coordinator emails information to

the casual teacher regarding general administration information.

 

Review of casuals

• The Administration Coordinator informally and intermittently reviews the work of the

casual teacher.
